THE TOURIST AND HOLIDAY INDUSTRY IN THE KRASNODAR TERRITORY

Kuban is one of the most popular holiday and tourist areas in the country.

The region has the biggest concentration of sanatoria, holiday hotels and tourist facilities in Russia and is the most visited holiday area. It accounts for 44% of the sanatorium and health services rendered in Russia and 9% of the tourist services (including hotels).

The holiday complex comprises 1200 sanatoria and holiday hotels accommodating about 220,000 people at one time. The volume of sanatoria and health and tourist services is growing by the year. In 2005 it exceeded 24.2 billion roubles and the number of holiday-makers reached about 10 million. The region’s unique recreational potential supports virtually all types of tourist and recreation industry: seaside, mountain, skiing and spas. All Russia’s seaside resorts are located in the Krasnodar Territory: Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Tuapse, YYeisk.

Extreme types of tourism are a big growth industry. The biggest sanatoria are: OOO Nadezhda holiday hotel, ZAO Rus Sanatorium, the  Nadym holiday hotel (Gelendzhik), ZAO Izvestia sanatorium, Kristall holiday hotel, OAO Olympic Dagomys (Sochi), Molniya holiday hotel (Tuapse District), the Mayak sanatorium and the Ural holiday hotel (Anapa).
