According to Customs statistics the external economy turnover of participants of the external economic activity of the Krai in 2006 was $4497 million (55.5% more than in 2005) including export - $2820 million (growth of 82.4% compared to totals for 2005 and is 62.7% of total trade turnover). The share of non-CIS countries in total trade turnover was 89.67%, CIS countries 10.33% (a reduction of 1.35% in comparison with the totals for 2005).

The share of export in 2006 in comparison with the same period of the previous year grew from 53.4% to 62.7%. Non-CIS countries maintain a high share of exports - $1527 million (89.6%), CIS countries $292 million (10.4%). The trade structure of export is represented by products from the following leading fields: mineral products (61%), food and raw materials for production of the same (21%), metal and metal goods (9%), timber and goods made from wood (2.8%), mechanical engineering (2.8%), production of the chemical field (2.1%).

The major partners in export are: Turkey (17.6% of turnover), Italy (13.5%), France (9%) and the Netherlands (7%).

The value of imports has grown by 24.6% compared to 2005. In total imports from non-CIS countries were $1505.2 million (89.7%), and from CIS countries $172.3 million (10.3%). Main imports were food products (50%, $834.1 million), mechanical engineering (17.3%, $291.2 million), products of the chemical field (10%, $166.2 million), metals and metal goods (8.3%, $138.7 million), textiles, textile goods, shoes (5%, $83.5 million), timber and goods made from wood (2.4%, $40.8 million).

The largest trade partners in supply of products to the Krai were: Brazil (sugar, coffee, tea), Turkey (food products, chemicals, consumer goods), Germany (chemicals, various machinery and equipment), Italy (food products, fertiliser, various equipment), China (consumer goods, furniture, textiles, equipment), France (seeds, wine stocks, equipment). As before the range of products from the Ukraine is varied - from food to mechanical engineering products.

Krasnodar Krai regularly visits diplomatic and trade missions accredited in the Russian Federation. In 2006 around 40 foreign delegations from more than 20 countries from the CIS and further afield visited Krasnodar Krai.

Consistent interest in cooperation with the region is shown by Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Turkey. Positive contacts were established in 2006 with China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Slovenia, there were short introductory trips by a delegation from the US Embassy with the aim of defining the direction of cooperation with Krasnodar Krai.
